Sustainable Energy and Climate Change

Our Sustainable Agriculture and Environment Conservation Program empowers rural communities — particularly women — to adopt climate-smart farming practices that restore ecosystems, boost productivity, and enhance resilience. Situated in Uganda’s southwestern highlands, the Kigezi region is characterized by steep, rugged terrain, which is prone to soil erosion, deforestation, and land degradation. These environmental challenges threaten food security, biodiversity, and livelihoods, especially in communities that heavily rely on small-scale agriculture. The key components of this program include:

A. Supporting Sustainable Agriculture:       

We provide hands-on training and continuous support for women in rural communities to engage in sustainable agriculture practices. This empowers them to produce food in environmentally responsible ways, ensuring food security while advancing their economic independence and community resilience                                     

B. Soil Health: 

We promote regenerative practices such as organic composting, terracing, mulching, and minimal tillage to improve soil fertility, reduce erosion, and support a productive ecosystem above and below ground.

  C. Environmental Protection Initiatives:

Women take the lead in environmental protection through activities such as tree planting and conservation efforts. These initiatives not only combat climate change but also foster a sense of community responsibility and stewardship.
